  • Cherish The Miracle of Your Baby’s Birth Day

The experience of riding the waves of labor. Your strength, your determination. Your partner's excitement, concern, joy. The moment of birth arrives! First look. First breathe. Baby's head settling on your chest for the first time. First little squeaky cries. Her little eyes looking into yours. His tiny mouth rooting for nourishment, for comfort. This moment will never happen again. No matter how many babies have been welcomed into the world, your baby, THIS baby, has his own special day. A miraculous day. A day that can be preserved for you, your family, and your sweet baby for her lifetime.

I'd love to be a part of your special day, to document this miraculous journey as it unfolds. Mama Matters offers birth photography to the East Texas and DFW areas and doula services to the Greater Tyler area.

I was so blessed to be the photographer at the birth of Thomas William! It was a lovely homebirth, this couple’s third baby. The mama, Ruth Anne, and her husband, Roy, worked so well together, as did the two midwives in attendance. Baby Thomas was born around sunrise, and his two older sister woke up to welcome their little brother!

It is one of the best gifts when a mom or couple shares with me how having a doula or birth photographer helped their birth experience. Josh and Terrica were such a lovely couple to work with, and they have one of THE most gorgeous four-month-old baby girls ever (has it really been 4 months?!). I was totally blessed to be their doula. Thank you for sharing your sweet thoughts with me, Terrica and Josh!

“A friend of ours said it best when they mentioned that hiring a doula for their childbirth experience was ‘worth every penny!’  I couldn’t agree more, and Kali is exceptional.  She was so easy to work with, listened intently to what our needs/wants were, and went far above the call of duty a number of times.  She was flexible, encouraging and affirming, and so attentive, literally from the day we hired her all the way thru postpartum.  My husband commented that even if I hadn’t needed her, he certainly did!  Her calming presence brought so much peace of mind and opportunity to rest and refuel that he couldn’t have imagined doing it without her.  We also used her for placenta encapsulation, and that too I’d do a thousand times over!  I was skeptical if it was really worth it, but let me say, I will NEVER face postpartum again without it.  The difference was profound and immediate, and as expected, Kali exceeded our expectations.  Timely, informative, professional, I simply can’t say enough about her.” – Joshua and Terrica Smith

Here is a sneak peek of the birth photos of beautiful Olivia. This precious daughter was born at home with lots of loving support from her family. Her big 4-year-old sister even acted as doula to her mama, handing her drinks of water and wiping her forehead with a cool cloth. It was so sweet! I can’t wait to have all the pictures edited so I can share more of this wonderful birth with you!
